Dr. Ball graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana. He performed his Internship and Residency in General Surgery at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He is the founder of Cane River Surgery Center in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He is the Chief of Surgery at the Natchitoches Parish Hospital.

Dr. Ball is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Society of General Surgeons. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Natchitoches Parish Medical Society, Louisiana Medical Society and many other professional organizations.
